Yoga Nidra

Yoga Nidra, or yogic sleep, as it is also known, is a guided meditation taking you on a journey into your inner self. It is a systematic method of inducing complete physical, mental and emotional stillness.

During Yoga Nidra the body rests deeply as the mind progressively becomes more aware of the inner world. This is achieved through following a series of verbal invitations to bring you into a state of mindful awareness.

You will be invited to rotate your awareness around the body, becoming aware of the physical, emotional and sensing aspects of yourself. During the practice, you may appear to be asleep in a comfortable position of rest, even though your consciousness is functioning at a deeper level of awareness. This is what gives rise to the term yogic sleep.

It is in this threshold state between sleep and wakefulness that connection between the subconscious and unconscious dimensions may occur spontaneously because there is a detachment from external stimuli and internalisation of awareness. When consciousness can be separated from external awareness and from sleep, it becomes very powerful and can be applied in many ways, for example: development of memory, increased knowledge, or creativity.

The practice will leave you feeling calm and at ease with a deep sense of wellbeing.
