My Journey to Kinesiology and Yoga

My name is Lyn Jordan. I started out studying Science and armed with my BSc in Chemistry, headed out into the world of pharmaceuticals, environmental monitoring, analytical consulting and training and project management. I really loved all this, but after 23 years, there were no more challenges. I had lost my passion and I felt a bit stagnant.

At around this time I sustained a fairly severe knee injury and after going down the conventional medical path with no results, I discovered Kinesiology. In just six short months the Kinesiologist who worked with me throughout my healing process, helped me move from struggling to get off the couch, to climbing three hundred steps to see a monastery in Thailand.

I was hooked.

With her encouragement, I decided to study Kinesiology and found a modality that helps people overcome the physical and emotional blockages in their lives. She also told me about the benefits of Reiki and suggested that I look at this as well, which I did.

In my practice I have found that the two modalities of Kinesiology and Reiki work well together, each supporting the other in helping you achieve integrated wellbeing.

After working in this area for some time I began to practice Yoga. I loved it. The changes I felt in my body and mind were transformative and I decided that I would love to become a Yoga teacher. But where to study? Who to study with? They say that when the student is ready the teacher will appear and that is exactly what happened for me.

As is often the case, at the most difficult times in your life, when you don't think you have the strength to stand up, let alone move forward, new challenges present themselves. So there I was in the darkest place I had ever been when the door opened just a crack and the light shone through. As Leonard Cohen so profoundly put it:

“There is a crack in everything,
that’s how the light gets in
”.

And that light lead me to Yoga teacher training. The year was a huge challenge, but I learnt so much about myself and came out the other end more whole carrying the prize of being a qualified teacher.

I love teaching Yoga. The difference it makes to peoples’ lives is amazing and there is a wonderful link between Kinesiology, Reiki and Yoga. People find that the imbalances that may surface during their Yoga practice can be dealt with via Kinesiology and Reiki and vice versa. There is a beautiful synergy between all three modalities.
